Nortel Selects 724 Solutions' Seamless Messaging Solution for Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence
Joint solution enables enterprise resellers to offer a converged voice and messaging service for their high value enterprise customers
Santa Barbara, CA, Barcelona, Spain, (February 11, 2008) - 724 Solutions, a leading provider of next generation mobile data solutions enabling seamless communications in an IP-based world, today announced that Nortel has selected 724's Seamless Messaging solution to enable transparent messaging between enterprise and mobile networks for Nortel's leading Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) Enterprise solutions which includes Nortel's Communication Server 1000 and CallPilot Unified Messaging.
Integrated with Nortel's FMC Enterprise solutions, 724's Seamless Messaging enables the seamless routing of messages between the enterprise network and the mobile network based upon the presence state of individual enterprise users. The Seamless Messaging solution allows the Enterprise to leverage their existing messaging system and extend out to their mobile workforce. The messages are seamlessly routed to the device currently in use by the enterprise subscriber, in a format and context that allows them to be delivered into the standard clients available on those devices. In addition to linking enterprise and mobile messaging networks, Seamless Messaging utilizes its integration with Nortel's CallPilot Unified Messaging platform, to seamlessly deliver voice mail alerts to users that are present in the mobile messaging network.
"Seamless Messaging is a powerful approach that enables the bridging of messaging services from traditional mobile messaging to IP-based domains, enabling messages to follow the subscriber, seamlessly," said John Sims, Chief Executive Officer of 724 Solutions. "Our collaboration with Nortel is the second market application of this breakthrough approach, and gives existing service providers a way to gain a competitive advantage over the new entrants with VoIP-only services."
"This is an exciting step for Nortel and its FMC strategy," said Peter Kelly, President, Enterprise, Nortel EMEA. "We see the ability for users to communicate effortlessly as critical to an efficient business; people shouldn't have to think whether people are mobile or in the office before they try to communicate. Our select partnership with 724 Solutions opens up our Enterprise FMC strategy to exciting new capabilities and we look forward to working with our EMEA resellers to drive these solutions into the market."
724's Seamless Messaging is an any-to-any messaging solution that enables communication between subscribers and services from different domains, without mandating that all parties upgrade to the same technology. Seamless Messaging leverages network assets, such as identity and presence, to dynamically route and adapt messages as they flow through the network, ensuring they are delivered to users in the format that is appropriate for the environment in which they are operating at that point in time.
