724 Solutions' X-treme Alerts Platform Achieves Milestone for Performance, Scalability and Fault Tolerance
Processes 10 million "live" transactions in 1.5 hours during joint demonstration with Sun and BEA for personalized alerting service
Santa Barbara, CA (September 10, 2003) - 724 Solutions (NASDAQ: SVNX; TSX: SVN), a leading provider of next-generation IP-based network applications and data services, today announced that its X-treme Alerts Platform achieved a significant level of performance, scalability and fault tolerance in a series of integration tests. In a joint initiative with Sun Microsystems and BEA, 724 Solutions demonstrated the X-treme Alerts Platform's ability to address a key business requirement: the delivery of highly personalized content in a timely and reliable manner to a large audience of subscribers. Live transactions were sourced from a large global enterprise with over 40 million account holders for the tests, which successfully processed over 1700 alerts per second and 10 million transactions in just over 90 minutes.
The extensive evaluation was performed at Sun's iForce labs where the 724 X-treme Alerts Platform achieved business rule processing and sustained message delivery throughput rates of over 1,700 alerts per second. To model a large commercial deployment, ten million subscribers registered individual interests and personalized alerts were generated after their specific criteria was satisfied.
The evaluation also demonstrated near linear scalability across a multi-CPU, BEA WebLogic cluster. Fault tolerance testing included a suite of destructive tests executed while alert processing was in progress. The 724 Alerts Platform demonstrated 100 percent fault tolerance and performed flawlessly with no transactions lost or duplicated.
These tests were executed using a series of Sun Fire V480 systems running SolarisT 8 Operating System and BEA WebLogic ServerT in an EJB Cluster for the alerting application and Oracle 9i RAC for the relational database.
